As with most things in life, we can't control our motivation levels, but how we choose to react to adversity is soley up to us. I have a few chronic health conditions and spent a long time hiding behind that excuse. But staying stagnant only fuels the flame. As you said, its about discipline and making self improvement habitual rather than something we only work on when we feel up to it. Remember, the only easy day was yesterday.

I liked the bit you said about complacency. I work at a law firm and my boss / head attorney is on the Regents for several Univerties. One PhD candidate was maybe not going to be awarded the degree & put forth a few bomb threats. Boss put forth their opinion / analysis telling us what to do if they show up. Made a lot of sense!
